Why do we do yoga?

There are so many important reasons we come to our yoga practise each week.
Yoga helps us maintain our mobility and improve our flexibility. We move through as full a range of motion as we possibly can, keeping our joints well-oiled and ensuring we build up our strength and stability, and minimise the risk of injuries.

The breathing techniques we practice in yoga can really help us to learn to sit peacefully, reduce stress, relieve anxiety, and increase attention and focus.

We pay attention to our own individual practice and movement - this is functional yoga, and it works for us as individuals; we learn to focus on our own bodies and not to compare ourselves to others.

I tell all my students; this is your mat, your practice and it will look different to everybody else's. Notice how the breathwork and the movement feels within you and see what you can take from my guidance.

We come to our yoga mats to feel and breathe, and to release the judgement and stresses of our lives.

Yoga is a holistic practice, and we have to bear all of the elements in mind in order to have a lovely practice.
